At-Home Date Night Ideas

Whether you and your date have the night to yourselves, or you're looking for ways to entertain your kids at home, we've come up with a few options for celebrating a special occasion, like Valentine's Day, or just a Saturday night in with those you love.

Just the two of you? Recreate your first date, at home! What was the mood of the restaurant? Let that reflect your table setting. Did you enjoy festive cocktails at a bar? Make those at home. What did you have for dinner? Make that menu together. Small details and the flow of an evening are two of the most important aspects of every event I plan, so here's a suggestion for your next date night:

  • Start the evening as mixology masters by creating a Valentine’s Day-inspired drink together.

  • Then, move on to an appetizer that you can enjoy while you sip on your cocktail.

  • The menu has to have meaning! Whether that's your favorite dish you've made countless times, a rendition of your wedding menu or your first date dinner, make it special to you.

  • Don’t forget about dessert! End the night with champagne and a dessert board to toast to another year of love + happiness.

  • Note: Set the table with dimly lit candles, wedding china, a floral centerpiece and your favorite bottle of wine.

Staying in with the kiddos? Try a heart-shaped pizza! It's a great activity for you and your kids to enjoy together. Your kids will be entertained by placing their choice of toppings on their individual pizzas, and you'll be elated at the ease of creating a memorable dish for them to enjoy - whether that's at the dinner table with you, at the kitchen counter or on the couch watching a Sunday night show.

Pro tip: A roll of pizza dough can be found in the refrigerated section at just about any grocery store. We cut it out in the shape of a heart, but if that intimidates you, you can get creative with the shapes of your pepperonis instead! These personal pizzas fit nicely on a couch-friendly lap tray, too.
